Our Humble Beginnings
It all started in 1992 with a couple of friends selling camping and climbing gear out of a garage in Michigan. Word spread quickly about their great selection and competitive prices, and soon climbers and backpackers from all over the Midwest were flocking to their shop.
In 1997, they officially launched Moosejaw Mountaineering and Backcountry Travel as a mail order catalog business. The first website went live in 1999, right at the beginning of the ecommerce boom.
